Why Panda, Why? is a young Belgian trio, consisting of Ymre Denis
(Saxophone), Benjamin Sas (Drums) and Arne Fivez (Piano).
With their minimalist line-up, they bring compelling instrumental 'ambient jazz'.

They started working on this project in 2021 after being inspired by New Wave Jazz musicians/groups like Mammal Hands, GoGo Penguin, Portico Quartet, Alfa Mist, and many more. Fully immersing themselves in the music of a new Jazz generation led to experimenting with a new way of making and approaching music, using more than just acoustic instruments and sounds. They found beauty in thoughtful repetition and the use of ambient electronic sounds to create a meditative and relaxing feeling for the listener. This combined with more intense Jazz improvisation brings balance to this new kind of sound.
